Bosco Blues In June?

It's been a tough year; but it's over, I hope, but do not really yet believe that it is. I reckon my years according to the academic calendar, late August to late June. In late August 2005, Katrina destroyed almost everything of physical matter that I loved and held dear beyond all normal measurement. In early May, Ellen and I separated, amicably and with love, to be sure, but it was an ending nonetheless. I have only doubts and big-time life questions to accompany me as I plunge blindly forward into a frightening host of tomorrows.

Today, as I was looking for something in my myriad folders scattered pell-mell throughout the files on my new computer, which is still very much in transition, I found a poem I wrote and first published some twenty years ago.

Frankly, it tells the tale of my mind and soul at yet another crossroad of my life as accurately now as it did when I first wrote it. That is scary as hell. But by publishing it again, here, perhaps the "slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" it denotes will be mitigated by the light of exposure.

PLEASE

Would you forgive me
could you forget it
Would you hold it against me
if I did?
Because
I'm tired
I've seen too much
and too much I've seen
I have also felt
And too much I've felt
brought little joy
and too much joy
was only an illusion
of lost salvation
And too many illusions
brought only pain
and too much pain
was self inflicted
So
if you could forgive
forget
and hold no grudge
Then
I'll ask your permission
to quit

And whatever happened to the post you said you were going to do on Johnnie Cochran?

Joe, you have told me, pertaining to me, you're/were going to do "THINGS" through the years and you don't follow through. WHY?

Well I know one reason why lately. You "SOLD-ME-OUT" for your So-called friend Larry Longo. I can tell you this Joe. Larry Longo is going to be called to the Witness Stand in a few HIGH-PROFILE Cases (Suge Knight one example).

Very Sad how you treat people Joe, VERY SAD, Especially me.

The OJ Simpson Case

By Blogger MarioGeorgeNitrini111, at 12:10 AM

Dear Mario,

Well, there you go again with your attack-dog style if you do not get personal gratification based upon the efforts of others on your schedule. You are not my editor, publisher or agent; you were--and as far as I am concerned, still are--my friend, a friend with whom I share a rather large slice of jurisprudence history, the Simpson murders.

I will address your incivility in order:

One: I most certainly was not asking for sympathy from anyone; primarily because I have no need for any at the moment. In fact, in many ways, I have never been happier in my life. The post above which brought your ire was a literary moment far more than anything else. I am at yet another crossroad in my relatively tumultuous life of better than five decades. I was, and still am, in a reflective mood that is partially due to Ellen and I splitting up; but just as much from other events in my personal and public life here in China. The BFSU Graduation ceremonies of this past weekend were exceedingly poignant for me on several levels, none of which needs public airing any further than that one post.

For the readers for whom it was intended, it was sufficient. For other, less personally involved but still regular readers of these pages, it was a small literary gift of debatable value or quality--you either get it and are moved by it, or you don't and shake your head in bemusement and move on as is done with almost all poetry. Obviously your literary tastes are of the latter category. No gripes do I have with that.

Two: I now write very slowly; sometimes I will spend a week on a single paragraph. (Sometimes anger speeds me up, as is the case here, but quality suffers, as is surely the case here.) The as yet untold stories of the Simpson case that you mention are in fact in the very laborious process of being written well enough to satisfy the harsh critic inside of me. Since they are very much unknown and carry a heavy burden of responsible reporting and writing, they will appear in these pages when they are ready by my schedule, no one else's.

These are not stories for sale--although I very easily could sell them if I chose to--and therefore are under no deadline mandate. I choose not to sell another word on the Simpson case--been there, done that, and do not want to be painted with that tar-brush in a mainstream forum ever again. Once was enough to scar me forever; although I do not regret doing it. The vast majority of people of color in America still mention my work on the Simpson murders kindly; about 70 % of white Americans vilify my name whenever it comes up. Some of these stories also involve people--friend and foe alike--who have passed from this life and therefore demand even more careful writing since they cannot answer me back.

Three: I am working and living under a very serious threat from a truly major player in the case that came to me directly due to some of the comments you planted helter skelter across the Internet. You know him well. He does not frighten me and I am enjoying dealing with his threat and actual attempts to harm at least my livelihood if not my life since I am so very far away. He is a weak and insecure bully who I will bring down much more quickly than he threatens to do to me. I will not help his cause by naming him here. But, since he is most certainly an enemy of yours, I will share the information with you privately if you so choose.

Four: If you think that Larry Longo did anything improper in actuality in the Suge Knight case, you and Chuck Phillips of the L.A. Times should get together and cry into your beer. Larry, who actually has no fondness for me any longer--which breaks my heart, but I understand why--is as clean as freshly driven snow in that matter. Larry Longo is still, to me, one of the most honorable men I have known in my life. I love him as I would a brother. Nothing can change that.

Buzz: The Talk of Los Angeles, a once popular but now defunct magazine, paid me a lot of money and gave me a lot of time and resources to investigate the Knight-Gina Longo-Larry Longo affair and believe me Larry came up clean! At that time we were only acquaintances well met. Unfortunately, there are no copies of that article available to me. Their archives have not been digitized to my knowledge, and my only copy was lost in transit to China almost four years ago. Maybe someone out there in cyberspace has a copy and will make it available.

Five: I have little or no respect for Mr. Dear's theories on the case. My only connection with him was the BBC documentary that featured our work in contrast. I do not believe that Jason was involved in the murders, period--opinion only, I must stress. I say this knowing that my mentor, Dr. Henry Lee, has given Bill Dear some credibility--very recently, in fact, on Larry King's show. But, in truth, no more than what he is quoted as giving in my book on the DNA plausibility of father like son statistical matching that was an open question due to the level of the science available at the time.

I am done with this. However, I am now thinking of taking this out of the comment box and putting it up as a post for all who care about the case to see. Perhaps. It is only a thought at the moment.

All the best, my friend,

Joseph

Mario,

By the way, I forgot to mention--no, more accurately, I was too polite to mention--you are a real jerk!

My friend, grow up and get over it. You are in your 50's; behave like it. Do you really believe you are the only person in the world who has enemies? Be a man and deal with them directly, do not project your fears and anger on others just because you know they have enough guts and integrity to answer you.

Fire away in your usual fashion. But, goddamn, although you have a real case, no one will help you if you castigate them beforehand.

Well Joe,

You're defending yourself, and that's GOOD. Most people are so "SCARED" to address me, it's unreal.

Joe, I by-passed your Poem, or whatever you want to call it. Your post on Wang Liu was "EXCELLENT."

I hope I've hurried you up Joe about writing about Unknown facts that you have in The OJ Simpson Case. It's about time and can only help me.

Joe, The OJ Simpson Case and Saga will "NEVER END." I will tell you two things that I will never stop pursuing until there is an end.
1. That's legal justice for myself because of my personal involvement in The OJ Simpson Case, and

2. Me proving that OJ Simpson's Regular Limousine driver for a certain period of time, and my ex-in-law, Rocky Bateman, disposed of some of OJ Simpson's Murder Evidence, and MORE.

"Three: I am working and living under a very serious threat from a truly major player in the case that came to me directly due to some of the comments you planted helter skelter across the Internet. Joe, why didn't you let me know this? I will legally deal with this person. I FEAR NOTHING.
Please E-mail me and let's discuss this. I will Legally help you. And Joe, remember this, NO ONE, and I MEAN NO ONE, can legally deal with me in The OJ Simpson Case, NO ONE. I got a pretty good idea of who it his. HE IS AN ILLEGAL PUNK SCUMBAG. Let me Know. E-mail me.

Los Angeles Times Staff Writer Chuck Philips is an ILLEGAL SCUMBAG, PERIOD.

Whatever you feel for Larry Longo, that's your call. Larry Longo IS NO GOOD, and he will be called to The Witness Stand in a legal court of law regarding Suge Knight and More.

That's how I found you Joe in 1997 through Buzz Magazine. Hopefully we can find your article's. I'll see what I can do.

William C. Dear did not account for Rocky Bateman. For his Jason Simpson scenario to work, Rocky must be in there somewhere.

"I am now thinking of taking this out of the comment box and putting it up as a post for all who care about the case to see."
Lot's of people care about The OJ Simpson Case, but Most are too afraid to address me about it.
It's your call.

Yea, I can be a jerk at times. But you know what Joe? Too bad for whoever.

Joe, You have the "GUT'S" and "COURAGE" to address me. That's Honorable. Enough said. Please E-mail me and we'll discuss legally putting this "BULLY" who is threatening you in his place. I wonder why this Punk Cockroach hasn't threatened me. Or may be he just did the other day.

Dear Mario,

Great, I am happy that we are on good terms again. By the way, please disregard the item above concerning a threat. It no longer exists and all ended quite amicably and instead of an enemy I now have a new friend. Please do not ask me to identify the party.

All the best,

Joseph

OK,

well

in an above comment, I said I have a big legal surprise for this person who threatened you, and I do I know who it is. It can only be one person.

You"r friends with this person? No Problem for me. But I'm NOT until there are some legal issues Resolved between me and him, PERIOD.

did you write that poem in high school? shockingly bad. do you have no shame, hanging your lack of talent out for all to see...good lord man

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:26 PM

Anonymous,

Trading words about anything literary with an illiterate is silly. But I just have too much southern boy gizzard in me to turn away from fools picking a fight, especially when they have the audacity to assume they can play in a league far above their demonstrated abilities.

I have been hanging my published talent out for all to see for many years, and been paid rather well for it. I have been a published poet, author and journalist for 30 years. Writing something that someone will pay for the right to publish is admittedly not the best way to judge literary merit, but it pays the bills so one can continue writing another year.

That previously published poem has had its fans over the years, as well as its detractors. Professional writers get quite used to taking praise and condemnation from both camps at their very subjective face value.

Perhaps you can share some of your published work with us? Ah, but that would mean you would have to identify yourself. And being the cowardly upstart I can only presume you to be, that just will not happen, will it? Please prove me wrong.
